The SSI Search & Recovery course at Scuba Sur Gran Canaria teaches divers how to locate and recover lost objects underwater. Upon completion, you will earn the SSI Search & Recovery Specialty certification, which is recognized in advanced SSI programs.
Training Overview
The course begins with online theory through the my.DiveSSI app. You can complete this at your own pace before arriving in Gran Canaria.
Practical training starts with confined water exercises to practice search and recovery skills. This is followed by 2 open water dives where you apply search patterns, communication techniques, and object recovery using lift bags.
The program covers:
- Planning dives for search and recovery
- Different underwater search patterns
- Underwater communication methods
- Recovering small to medium-sized objects
- Use of specialized equipment like lift bags
Certification Result
After successfully completing the course, you will earn the SSI Search & Recovery Specialty certification. This certification is a prerequisite for several advanced SSI programs and demonstrates competence in underwater search and object recovery.
