Start your scuba journey with the PADI Open Water Diver course
The PADI Open Water Diver (OWD) course at Scuba Sur Gran Canaria is the first step in your scuba diving journey. Upon certification, you can dive independently with a buddy to a maximum depth of 18 meters. The program covers basic dive theory, skills, and safety knowledge to explore the underwater world with confidence.
Training Overview
The course begins with online theory through the PADI app. You can complete this at your own pace before arriving in Gran Canaria.
Practical training includes confined water sessions to learn and practice scuba skills, followed by 4 open water dives where you apply these skills in real dive environments.
The program covers:
- Scuba skills and safety procedures
- Equipment setup and usage
- Underwater communication and buoyancy control
- Basic dive planning and problem-solving
- Exploration of local dive sites in Gran Canaria
Participants must be at least 10 years old to enroll. The course is mainly self-study, with support from our instructors to answer questions at any time.
Certification Result
After successful completion, you will receive the PADI Open Water Diver certification. This allows you to dive up to 18 meters worldwide with a certified dive buddy, opening the door to exploring reefs, wrecks, and other underwater environments.
